After graduating from fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York, in 1981, Dr. Pepper served in a variety of academic positions at Downstate Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York Medical College, and NYU School of Medicine.
In 1996 Dr. Pepper relocated from New York to Florida where he established a busy endocrinology practice in addition to pursuing independent research as an Associate Professor at University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He also severed for several years on advisory committees for both the American Thyroid Association and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
In 1996, Dr. Pepper launched the website Metabolism.com. For the past 27 years he has maintained the unique status of metabolism.com as an unbiased provider of often novel and controversial viewpoints in the field of thyroid disease, diabetes and other metabolic diseases and conditions.
In August 2023 he retired from his medical practice.
Dr. Pepper says:
We live in the Age of Misinformation. We communicate so fast and with so many people that if we aren’t careful about what it is we are saying, bad information can spread across the globe in a few days.
There are those who try to profit by pretending to have unique understanding of common medical problems then offer to solve these problems at an inflated price. Meanwhile, the medical profession is undermined by teachers who are paid to promote commercial interests, and by practitioners who don’t question these ‘experts’ .
Metabolism.com has no financial relationships with any pharmaceutical companies or device makers establishing the site as one of the few providing medical information without conflict of interest.
The goal for the coming years is to have Metabolism.com serve as a popular platform for unbiased perspectives on critical subjects in the field of endocrinology and metabolism. Please support this effort by sharing the website with your friends and family.“
