Astrid Matthysse, RD

Astrid graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University. She is currently employed as a Clinical Dietitian/Diabetes Educator at Palm Springs General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida.

Having diabetes herself, she is dedicated to improving the lives of people with this condition by counseling inpatients and outpatients, running a monthly support group, and participating in community events such as screenings and health fairs.

Astrid is a professional member of the American Diabetes Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators, Greater Miami Association of Diabetes Educators, American Dietetic Association, Florida Dietetic Association. She served on the board of the Miami Dietetic Association for the 1999-2000 period.

She is also holder of a degree in Computer Science from Colgate University, and was employed in this field when living in her native country, Venezuela. She currently lives in Miami with her two young children.
